Employee attendance sheet in excel with formula

Attendance management is the crucial part for Human resource department. This is required for leave balance calculation and salary processing. In case of a small organization with few employees, this can be maintained in the excel template. This attendance sheet in excel with formula will help in leave and attendance management of employees with visualization dashboard.

Before using this template, please read following points:

  • This template can be used for monitoring the attendance and leave for one month. You have to create different sheet for each month.
  • You have to update year and moth in the sheet. Month days will be updated based on the month and year selected in the sheet.
  • Copy and paste the formula to add more employees in the template.
  • To update the attendance and leave in the sheet, select from the drop down list.

The company leave policy provides for different types of leaves for employees. This can be sick leave, Casual leave, Earned leave etc. the balance of these types of leaves can also be maintained in this attendance template. You can change the type of leaves if required as per the leave policy. The closing balance of the leaves will be calculated automatically based on the updating in the sheet.


Update the opening balance of leave balances every month and start updating the attendance for employees. The attendance can be updated for each day from the drop down list. P represents present and the other list of short codes for leave will be taken from leave definition. This will also allow you to select half day leave also.
